Chennai Leaders Condemn Police Assault on Teen

Chennai: Leader of the opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS), and AMMK general secretary T T V Dhinakaran on Thursday condemned the sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy by a policeman in Kodambakkam, Chennai. The accused policeman allegedly forced the boy to consume alcohol before sexually assaulting him. The boy fought back, attacked the policeman, and managed to escape to the Ashok Nagar police station to file a complaint.

Udhayanidhi Stalin's Remarks

Udhayanidhi Stalin took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his outrage. He stated, “The law-and-order situation has become so precarious that even policemen can’t be trusted for safety. The TVK government should stop poaching MLAs and focus on using police effectively.”

EPS Expresses Shock

EPS expressed deep shock over the incident. In a social media post, he said, “The rising frequency and horrific nature of crimes in Tamil Nadu are triggering widespread fear. It is deeply disturbing that the police, who are meant to protect the public, are involved in such heinous acts.”

Dhinakaran's Call for Action

Echoing similar sentiments, Dhinakaran urged the TVK government to implement robust measures to protect children. “The assault on the 16-year-old boy and the daily rise in crimes demonstrate that none of the CM’s directives to the police department are being implemented on the ground,” the AMMK leader said. He demanded immediate government intervention to restore public safety.
