Chennai police arrested a 42-year-old man from Pulianthope on July 5 for allegedly allowing his minor son to ride a motorcycle, which resulted in a fatal accident that killed a 54-year-old woman. The incident occurred on June 28 when the 17-year-old boy, riding a motorcycle, knocked down Madhura while she was cycling on Pulianthope High Road. Madhura succumbed to her injuries on July 4 at Government Stanley Medical College Hospital, according to police officials.
Father arrested for negligence
The boy's father, identified as Amirjan of Pulianthope, was taken into custody on July 5 for permitting his underage son to operate the two-wheeler. He was subsequently remanded in judicial custody. The Greater Chennai Traffic Police confirmed the arrest and emphasized that parents or guardians who allow minors to drive motor vehicles will face strict legal consequences.
