Chitradurga District Reports Notable Decline in Crime Rates for 2025

Chitradurga district has witnessed a substantial decrease in crime rates during 2025 compared to the preceding three years, according to official police sources. Authorities have attributed this positive trend to rigorous enforcement strategies and comprehensive precautionary measures implemented across the region.

Multi-Pronged Police Strategy Yields Results

Superintendent of Police Ranjit Kumar Bandaru detailed the comprehensive approach that contributed to the crime reduction. Key initiatives included establishing 24/7 check posts on major thoroughfares, conducting systematic vehicle inspections, and maintaining daily lock-up house lists at all police stations. Enhanced night patrols, fingerprint verification through the MCCITNS system, and close monitoring of previously convicted criminals were instrumental in reducing property theft cases specifically.

"Appropriate legal action was taken against offenders consistently," SP Bandaru emphasized, noting that police cracked down on numerous illegal activities throughout the year, registered cases methodically, and ensured action against culprits. He further assured that "in the coming days, more cases will be registered regarding illegal activities in the district" as part of ongoing vigilance.

Anti-Drug Campaign and Community Engagement

The district police launched several innovative steps to combat drug use and trafficking, most notably developing a dedicated 'Drug Free' mobile application. Under the ambitious 'Drug-Free Chitradurga – Strong Chitradurga' campaign initiated last year, authorities organized a community marathon and various fitness-related activities to promote healthy lifestyles and discourage substance abuse.
