Coimbatore Police Seize 874 Bottles of Illicit Liquor on Dry Day

Coimbatore city police conducted a major operation on Friday, seizing 874 bottles of liquor intended for illegal sale. This action took place on Thiruvalluvar Day, which authorities had declared a dry day across the city.

Eight Arrested in City-Wide Crackdown

Police arrested eight individuals on charges of selling liquor illegally. Five of these men now face judicial custody, while the remaining three secured bail and were released. A police officer explained that teams performed checks throughout Coimbatore to prevent any unlawful liquor sales.

The operation specifically targeted Tasmac bars to ensure compliance with the dry day rules. Officers discovered several bars open against regulations and confiscated liquor from these locations and other spots.

Significant Seizure from Singanallur Bar

In one notable incident, police seized 680 bottles of liquor from a Tasmac bar near Singanallur. Authorities have launched efforts to apprehend the man who operates this establishment. This seizure formed a large part of the total haul recovered during the day.
