The body of a Dial-112 driver constable, who jumped into the Yamuna river after murdering his three-year-old daughter and attacking his wife, was found floating in the water on Monday morning. This discovery occurred in Banda, marking the sixth day since the tragic incident unfolded.
Body Recovery and Identification
Local villagers spotted the body and immediately alerted the authorities. A team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police quickly arrived at the scene. They retrieved the body from the river near Kuti Ghat Kandai Nar.
Farmers Deshraj Nishad, Chhavinath, and Munna Kevat made the initial discovery around 11:30 AM while checking their fields. They saw the body floating and informed Sub-Inspector Durvijay Singh and the SDRF team.
Police identified the deceased as accused constable Gaurav Kumar Yadav. The body was in uniform and showed signs of bloating. Authorities completed the panchnama procedure and sent the remains to Rani Durgavati Medical College for a post-mortem examination.
Family Notification and Response
Police informed the constable's family members at his ancestral home in Farrukhabad about the recovery. They also contacted his in-laws, but the in-laws from Kanpur refused to travel to Banda.
Marka police station inspector Mithlesh Singh provided details about the notifications. "We have informed the constable's father-in-law Kashmir Singh, who lives in Kanpur, and the constable's father, retired ADO Panchayat Arvind Kumar Yadav, a resident of Farrukhabad," he stated.
Background of the Incident
The horrific events occurred on the night of January 14th. Constable Gaurav Kumar Yadav lived in a rented room with his wife Shivani, aged 25, and their three-year-old daughter Pari. He served as a driver for Dial-112 at Marka police station and originally hailed from Garh Kuiyan Koot village in Farrukhabad district.
After returning home from the Makar Sankranti fair, an argument erupted between Gaurav and his wife. When their young daughter Pari tried to intervene, the situation turned violent. Gaurav repeatedly struck Pari with an iron pan, resulting in her death. He also attacked his wife Shivani during the altercation.
Aftermath and Search Operation
Following the crime, Gaurav locked the room and fled the scene. He made his way to the Yamuna bridge at Asothar village in the Marka police station area that same night. There, he left both his mobile phones on the bridge before jumping into the river.
Police and SDRF teams from Lucknow immediately launched a search operation in the Yamuna river. They continued searching for the constable until his body was finally discovered six days later.
Current Status of the Survivor
Shivani, the constable's wife, remains hospitalized in Kanpur. She is undergoing treatment for her injuries and continues to be in a coma. Medical professionals are monitoring her condition closely as she recovers from the traumatic attack.
The case has drawn significant attention due to the constable's position and the brutal nature of the crime. Authorities continue their investigation while the community grapples with this family tragedy that ended with the perpetrator's body being recovered from the river.
