A tragic incident unfolded in Lucknow on Saturday afternoon, resulting in the deaths of a man and a woman who allegedly jumped in front of a moving Vande Bharat train. The event occurred near the Jalalpur railway crossing, within the limits of the Talkatora police station.

Police authorities stated they received information about the incident around 1:45 pm on January 10. Upon receiving the alert, teams from the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the local Talkatora police station immediately rushed to the location to begin a preliminary inquiry.
An eyewitness account provided to the police painted a harrowing picture. The duo was seen walking close to the railway tracks near the Jalalpur gate for nearly two-and-a-half hours before the accident. As the Vande Bharat train began approaching the station, the two individuals suddenly lay down on the track. Despite shouts and warnings from people nearby, the train passed over them before any intervention was possible, killing both on the spot.
Victims' Background and Police Findings
Initial investigations by the police have uncovered several key details about the deceased. Both individuals were employed at the same office in the Sadar area of Lucknow. Preliminary findings indicate that the man was married and is survived by his wife and a seven-year-old son. The woman was unmarried.
In a related development, it was revealed that the woman's family had lodged a missing person complaint at the Sushant Golf City police station on Thursday, two days prior to the incident.

Officials recovered crucial items from the scene as part of their probe. A mobile phone was found in the woman's possession. From the man, police recovered two mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, and other personal documents. All these items are currently being examined by investigators to piece together the events leading to the extreme step.
