CWC Demands Culpable Homicide Case Against Park Owners After Boy Drowns
CWC Seeks Culpable Homicide Case in Park Drowning

The Ernakulam district Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has demanded that a case of culpable homicide be registered against the owners of Lions Jungle Park in Kizhakkambalam, where a five-year-old boy drowned. The committee stated that the establishment was operating without any licence or approval.

The deceased, Muhammad Adam, was part of a pre-school group that visited the park. The CWC observed that the park lacked safety precautions and adequate security personnel. Only ropes were used to cordon off very dangerous water bodies and swamps, the committee noted.

Teachers responsible for ensuring the safety of children also failed in their duties, the committee stated. After visiting the site, CWC vice-chairman K S Arun Kumar filed a complaint with Thadiyittaparambu police. The complaint demands action against those responsible under charges of culpable homicide and the Juvenile Justice Act.

The incident has raised serious questions about the enforcement of safety regulations at recreational facilities, especially those catering to young children. The CWC has urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that such negligence is not repeated in the future.
