In a shocking incident that has raised serious security concerns, a 42-year-old man was brutally gunned down by armed assailants in Patna's Saran district. The brazen attack occurred in broad daylight on Sunday within the jurisdiction of the Town police station.
A Desperate Escape Attempt Foiled
The victim, who was later identified as Azad Singh, a resident of Dariyapur village, was reportedly trying to flee from his attackers. Eyewitnesses stated that in a final, desperate bid to save his life, Singh attempted to enter a nearby house. Tragically, the assailants caught up with him and shot him in the head at point-blank range.
The location of the crime has sent shockwaves through the community, as it took place merely 100 meters from the police line, highlighting the audacity of the criminals. The identity of the deceased remained a mystery initially until police discovered a crucial clue—a train ticket from Chhapra to Katihar in his pocket—which led to his identification.
Swift Police Response and Investigation
Upon receiving information about the shooting, a team from the Town police station immediately rushed to the spot and launched a comprehensive investigation. A specialized Forensic Science Lab (FSL) team was also dispatched to the crime scene to gather scientific evidence.
The forensic experts meticulously collected blood samples, fingerprints, and other vital evidence that could lead to the identification and arrest of the culprits. In a parallel line of inquiry, the police are scrutinizing CCTV footage obtained from cameras installed in nearby houses and commercial establishments.
