Drug Dealer's 'Turkey Teeth' Photo Leads to Arrest and Prison Sentence
In a bizarre and almost unbelievable turn of events, a drug dealer was apprehended after he proudly shared a photograph of his newly acquired "Turkey teeth," completely unaware that the recipient's mobile device was already in the possession of law enforcement authorities. This seemingly innocuous image, captured from a dentist's chair in Turkey, played a pivotal role in helping police identify and arrest the individual, thereby unraveling a broader drug supply operation.
How a Cosmetic Dental Treatment Became a Key Piece of Evidence
Coran Davies, a 23-year-old man, sent the photo to a friend while undergoing cosmetic dental treatment abroad. However, he failed to realize that the friend's phone had been seized and was under active analysis as part of a separate, ongoing investigation. Alongside the image, Davies also transmitted messages that explicitly discussed the supply of cocaine and cannabis, effectively providing police with direct and incriminating evidence.
Utilizing advanced facial recognition technology, officers were able to confirm Davies' identity with precision. This digital trail, combining the photo and the associated messages, became a cornerstone of the case against him.
The Arrest and Discovery of Further Evidence
On March 7, police intercepted Davies while he was driving in Tonypandy. He was arrested along with his passenger, Dale Howell, aged 25. Both individuals hail from Porth, Rhondda Cynon Taf. During the traffic stop, officers uncovered substantial quantities of drugs and thousands of pounds in cash, significantly bolstering the case against the two men.
Legal Proceedings and Sentencing Outcomes
Davies later entered guilty pleas to multiple offences, including:
- Supplying cannabis
- Possessing criminal property
- Driving without insurance or a licence
- Intent to supply cocaine
Howell pleaded guilty to possessing criminal property and intent to supply cocaine. At Merthyr Crown Court, Davies received a sentence of 48 months in prison, while Howell was sentenced to 36 months behind bars.
