Coimbatore: A decomposed body of a guest worker was recovered from under a bridge near Eluvayakkal, close to Alandurai in Coimbatore district on Monday. The deceased has been identified as S Majiful Mondal, 37, a resident of North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal.
Discovery and Recovery
Police reported that a local resident alerted authorities after noticing a severely decomposed body under the Pallavari bridge at approximately 2:30 pm on Monday. Alandurai police promptly arrived at the scene, recovered the remains, and sent them to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Forensic Investigation
Parthasarathy, assistant director of the forensic science department, inspected the site where the body was found. During the examination, officials recovered items from the deceased's wallet, including a driver's license and other identification documents, which helped establish his identity. The preliminary forensic assessment revealed no visible external injuries on the body. However, police stated that the exact cause of death can only be determined after the postmortem report is completed.
Legal Proceedings
Alandurai police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations into the incident. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding Mondal's death and any potential leads.
