Delhi Police Constables Show Unwavering Courage, Arrest Notorious Criminal Despite Stabbing

In a remarkable display of bravery, two police personnel from Delhi refused to back down even after being stabbed. They successfully arrested a known history-sheeter in outer Delhi's Shahbad Dairy area on Saturday. The incident highlights the risks officers face daily in maintaining law and order.

Chase and Confrontation in Gupta Colony

Head constable Kuldeep and constable Neeraj were on their regular patrol duty near Gupta Colony when they received a critical tip-off. The information indicated that Ravi, also known as Panchi, a 38-year-old resident of Shahbad Dairy, was planning to execute a robbery. Acting swiftly on this intelligence, the officers moved to intercept him.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Hareshwar Swami provided details of the encounter. "Ravi attempted to flee upon noticing the police team," Swami said. "A intense chase ensued, and our officers managed to catch up with him."

Violent Resistance and Injuries Sustained

During the arrest, Ravi allegedly resisted fiercely. He attacked the policemen with a sharp-edged weapon, inflicting serious injuries. Kuldeep suffered two stab wounds, one on his upper back and another near his armpit. Neeraj was struck three times in the waist area.

Fortunately, Neeraj's service belt blocked two of the blows, but he still sustained a puncture injury on his hip. Despite these injuries, both constables, who are posted at the Shahbad Dairy police station, demonstrated incredible resilience. They overpowered Ravi and secured him.

Recovery of Weapons and Legal Action

From the accused, the police seized a loaded countrymade pistol and the knife used in the attack. The injured constables were immediately taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable, and they are recovering from the ordeal.

A formal case has been registered against Ravi under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. These include:

  • Section 109(1) for attempt to murder
  • Section 132 for assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from duty
  • Section 221 for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of official functions

Additionally, charges under the Arms Act have been filed due to the recovery of the pistol.

Criminal Background of the Accused

Police investigations reveal that Ravi is a notorious bad character in the Shahbad Dairy area. He has a long criminal record, with at least 12 cases registered against him. His past offences include:

  1. Robbery
  2. Snatching
  3. House-breaking
  4. Violations under the Arms Act

These cases are spread across police stations such as Shahbad Dairy and Samaypur Badli, indicating his persistent involvement in criminal activities.

Recognition and Commendation from Senior Officers

Senior police officers have praised Kuldeep and Neeraj for their exceptional bravery and dedication. An officer commented that their timely intervention likely prevented a serious crime from occurring. "Their actions exemplify the highest standards of police duty," the officer stated.

In recognition of their courage, recommendations for awards and commendations are currently under process. This formal acknowledgment aims to honor their sacrifice and inspire other personnel in the force.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers police officers confront while protecting citizens. It also underscores the importance of community cooperation in combating crime, as the initial tip-off played a crucial role in this successful operation.
