Delhi Court Directs Police to Submit Detailed Status Report in DJB Pit Death Case
A court in New Delhi has issued a directive to the Delhi Police, ordering them to file a comprehensive status report concerning an FIR registered in connection with the tragic death of a 25-year-old biker. The victim, Kamal Dhyani, fell into an uncovered pit dug by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) in West Delhi's Janakpuri area on the night of February 5-6, as reported by news agency PTI.
Court Hearing and Judicial Orders
Judicial Magistrate First Class Harjot Singh Aujla presided over the hearing and instructed the Investigating Officer to submit a detailed status report by February 13. In an order dated February 10, the court explicitly stated, "IO/ SHO are directed to file a status report of the investigation done in the present matter along with position and working condition of the CCTV cameras nearby the spot in question, covering the alleged incident. The status report be filed on the next date of hearing February 13 at 2pm."
Interim Protection for Contractors
On the same day, the court granted interim protection to two contractors, Himanshu Gupta and Kavish Gupta, against whom arrest warrants had been issued in relation to the case. The court provided anticipatory bail to both individuals, ordering that no coercive action should be taken against them until the next hearing, ensuring their legal rights are upheld during the ongoing investigation.
Details of the Incident and Arrests
Kamal Dhyani, who worked at a private bank in Rohini, was returning home when he fell into the 15-foot-deep pit, which had been excavated for a sewer project. He sustained fatal injuries from the fall. In response to the incident, the Delhi Police have made two arrests: a sub-contractor named Rajesh Prajapati and a labourer identified as Yogesh. Both have been sent to judicial custody.

- The 23-year-old labourer was arrested on Sunday for allegedly failing to inform the police or emergency authorities about the incident and misleading the victim's family during their inquiries.
