Incident in Ranhola
A 32-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife in Delhi's Ranhola area on Wednesday night over suspicion of infidelity, before dying by suicide, police said. The accused, identified as Rajesh, a daily wage labourer, attacked his wife Priya (28) with a knife at their rented accommodation around 10 pm. Neighbours alerted police after hearing screams.
Details of the Crime
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer district) Sameer Sharma, Rajesh suspected Priya of having an extramarital affair. An argument escalated into a violent assault. Rajesh then locked himself in a room and hanged himself. Police found both bodies when they arrived. A knife was recovered from the scene.
Investigation Underway
Police have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. No suicide note was found. Neighbours said the couple had frequent arguments over the past few months. "They often fought loudly; we never expected it to turn fatal," said a neighbour.
Impact and Community Reaction
The incident has left the local community shocked. Authorities urge anyone facing marital issues to seek counselling. "Domestic disputes must be resolved through dialogue or professional help, not violence," said DCP Sharma.
