A 30-year-old woman was arrested by the Delhi Metro police for allegedly stealing an unattended bag containing gold ornaments worth Rs 20 lakh and Rs 60,000 in cash. The incident took place on the Delhi Metro network, prompting a swift investigation by authorities.
Investigation and CCTV Analysis
According to a senior police officer, a team launched an investigation and analysed CCTV footage from more than 25 Metro stations across multiple corridors to trace the suspect's movements. The meticulous review of surveillance footage helped identify the woman and track her route through the network.
The bag was left unattended by its owner, a passenger who later reported the theft. The stolen items included gold jewellery valued at approximately Rs 20 lakh and Rs 60,000 in cash.
Arrest and Recovery
The accused was apprehended from her residence in Delhi. Police recovered the stolen gold ornaments and a portion of the cash. The woman has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for theft.
"We analysed footage from over 25 Metro stations to establish her movement pattern," said a Delhi Metro police official. "The prompt response and coordination between teams led to the arrest and recovery of the stolen property."

Delhi Metro authorities have urged passengers to remain vigilant and not leave their belongings unattended. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) regularly advises passengers to keep an eye on their luggage and report any suspicious activity to security personnel.
