Delhi Couple Attacked Over Mobile Phone Dispute: Woman Killed, Husband Injured
A tragic incident unfolded in northwest Delhi's Adarsh Nagar area on Tuesday night, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old woman and injuries to her husband following an alleged dispute over a mobile phone. The deceased has been identified as Rakhi, while her 30-year-old husband, Ashu, is currently undergoing medical treatment at a local hospital.
Details of the Fatal Altercation
According to police officials, the violent confrontation originated from a mobile phone-related disagreement. Preliminary investigations reveal that three youths allegedly took a mobile phone from the couple's 12-year-old son while he was playing a game on the device. The youths reportedly slapped the child, causing him to cry loudly.
Hearing their son's distress, both Ashu and Rakhi emerged from their residence in the Azadpur locality where the family lived and worked as balloon sellers. The couple confronted the youths about the incident, which quickly escalated from a verbal argument into a physical altercation.
Police Response and Investigation
Delhi Police received a PCR call around 9 pm on Tuesday reporting a stabbing incident near the railway track in Azadpur. A team from the local police station immediately responded to the scene, where they discovered Ashu injured just a few meters away from the main location of the attack. He was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical attention.
During a subsequent search of the area, police officers found Rakhi lying with multiple stab wounds. She was transported to the hospital via ambulance but was declared dead upon arrival. The crime scene was thoroughly examined by forensic teams, with evidence collected for further analysis.
Escalation of Violence
"During the scuffle, two of the youths allegedly attacked Ashu and Rakhi with knives before fleeing the scene," stated a senior police officer familiar with the investigation. "Local residents later intervened and informed the police about the incident."
Police have confirmed that the victims and the accused individuals were known to each other prior to the fatal confrontation. Multiple police teams have been formed to trace the suspects, with raids being conducted at various locations across the city.
Ongoing Investigation and Legal Proceedings
No arrests have been made in connection with the case as of the latest reports. Police officials have indicated that Ashu's formal statement will be recorded once his medical condition improves sufficiently. Following this procedure, a formal case will be registered against the perpetrators.
The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) officials conducted a detailed inspection of the crime scene, collecting crucial evidence that may help identify and apprehend the suspects. The investigation remains active, with authorities pursuing multiple leads to bring those responsible to justice.
This tragic incident highlights the potential for minor disputes to escalate into violent confrontations with devastating consequences. The local community in Azadpur has been shaken by the events, with residents expressing concern over safety in the neighborhood.
