Delhi Police Cracks Down on Major Counterfeit Manufacturing Operation

In a significant enforcement action, the Delhi Police's Cyber Cell and Special Staff from the Crime Branch have successfully dismantled a highly organized criminal network involved in the large-scale production of counterfeit consumer goods. The operation, conducted on Tuesday, targeted illegal manufacturing units in the city's Madhu Vihar area.

Massive Seizure of Fake Products

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police teams conducted simultaneous raids on two clandestine production facilities. During these operations, authorities recovered an astonishing quantity of counterfeit items, including over 100,000 fake ENO antacid sachets and approximately 50,000 counterfeit Nescafé coffee sachets. The seizure represents one of the largest hauls of fake fast-moving consumer goods in recent Delhi police history.

In addition to the finished counterfeit products, police confiscated sophisticated manufacturing equipment used in the illegal operation. This included filling machines, raw materials, and specialized packaging equipment that enabled the racket to produce convincing replicas of genuine branded products.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

Four individuals have been apprehended in connection with this counterfeit manufacturing racket. Police officials confirmed that the accused were operating a well-organized setup designed to mimic legitimate production processes while avoiding detection.

"The scale of this operation was substantial," a senior police officer stated. "The accused had established what appeared to be professional manufacturing units, complete with equipment capable of producing counterfeit goods that could easily deceive consumers."

Separate Counterfeit Toothpaste Operation Uncovered

In a related development, Delhi Police conducted another successful operation against counterfeit consumer products on April 2. This separate crackdown targeted a fraudulent toothpaste manufacturing racket operating in Outer Delhi's Kanjhawala area.

During this operation, six individuals were arrested for allegedly refilling empty branded toothpaste tubes with unhygienic local paste. The accused were using specialized machinery to seal the tubes, making them appear as genuine products before distributing them to unsuspecting consumers.

A subsequent raid at a godown in C-Block, Mahaveer Vihar resulted in the seizure of:

  • A large quantity of counterfeit toothpaste
  • Empty and filled toothpaste tubes
  • Packaging cartons
  • Tube-filling and sealing machines
  • Various other manufacturing equipment

The main accused in this separate counterfeit toothpaste case has also been apprehended, according to police statements.

Wider Supply Chain Investigation Underway

Delhi Police authorities have confirmed that investigations are actively progressing to identify the complete supply and distribution networks associated with both counterfeit operations. Law enforcement officials are particularly focused on tracing how these fake products entered the market and reached consumers.

"Our priority is to dismantle the entire ecosystem supporting these counterfeit operations," a Crime Branch official emphasized. "This includes identifying suppliers of raw materials, distribution channels, and retail outlets that may have been selling these fake products to consumers."

The police are coordinating with brand protection teams from the affected companies to verify the authenticity of seized products and gather additional evidence. Consumer safety authorities have also been alerted about the potential health risks associated with using counterfeit food and pharmaceutical products.

These coordinated operations highlight Delhi Police's intensified focus on combating organized crime affecting consumer safety and brand integrity in the national capital region.
