Delhi Police Busts Interstate Illegal Arms Network, Seizes 14 Pistols

New Delhi: Delhi Police has successfully dismantled an interstate illegal arms supply network, arresting two alleged traffickers and seizing a total of 14 pistols and 20 live cartridges. The breakthrough came after coordinated raids in Haryana's Mewat region.

Initial Arrest Leads to Broader Network

The case came to light following the arrest of Kunwar Pal, a 27-year-old alleged interstate arms supplier, in southwest Delhi's Baba Haridas Nagar area on September 13 last year. Police recovered eight country-made pistols and 10 live cartridges from his possession, leading to the registration of a case under the Arms Act.

Interrogation Reveals Mastermind

During interrogation, Kunwar Pal allegedly disclosed that he was operating under the directions of Harmesh Singh, who had been absconding for several months. Subsequently, police obtained non-bailable warrants against Singh.

Raids in Mewat Lead to Second Arrest

Acting on fresh intelligence, police teams conducted a raid in Jurhera village, located in the Mewat region of Haryana, on Monday. They arrested Harmesh Singh, a 47-year-old resident of Deeg district in Rajasthan. DCP (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh confirmed the arrest.

Recovery of Firearms and Ammunition

Based on Harmesh Singh's disclosures, police recovered one sophisticated pistol, five country-made pistols, and 10 live cartridges. Investigators stated that the accused had been supplying illegal firearms to criminals in Delhi and adjoining areas.

Total Seizures and Criminal Background

In total, police seized 14 pistols — one sophisticated and 13 country-made — along with 20 live cartridges. Harmesh Singh has at least five previous criminal cases registered against him. Efforts are ongoing to trace other members of the network and identify their buyers.
