Body Found in Mustard Field, Accused Identified
Police recovered the body of the young woman on Saturday morning from a mustard field. The deceased was a college student. The authorities have identified the accused as Lalchand Ali, a resident of Dhubri district. The body was sent for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Family's Allegations and Police Investigation
Distraught family members have put forward grave allegations. They claim that the girl was abducted by Ali on Friday evening. They further allege that she was first raped and then strangulated to death. According to them, the accused dumped her body in the field on Friday night itself.
When contacted, Debajyoti Talukdar, the Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) in Dhubri, confirmed the registration of a murder case against Lalchand Ali. Regarding the rape allegation, Talukdar stated that it could only be confirmed after the post-mortem report is received. A police source also corroborated the sequence of events, stating the girl was allegedly abducted on Friday evening.
