The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has scored a major victory against drug trafficking. In one of its largest operations in recent years, the agency seized a massive quantity of the psychotropic drug Mephedrone. The haul weighed 270 kilograms and carries an estimated street value of around eighty-one crore rupees.
Multi-State Operation Nets Key Arrests
A joint team comprising personnel from Rajasthan, Haryana, and New Delhi executed the meticulous operation. They acted on specific intelligence inputs. The operation spanned state borders and took place between January 11 and 12.
Officials intercepted a truck in Sikar, Rajasthan. The vehicle was supposedly transporting agro-based cargo. A thorough search revealed the contraband. The drugs were cleverly concealed beneath sacks of chicken feed, marking a novel method of concealment.
Syndicate Unraveled and Facility Dismantled
Following the initial seizure, investigators conducted subsequent raids at several locations in Haryana. These actions led to the arrest of other key operatives. The individuals are linked to the manufacture and supply of the narcotics.
Authorities successfully identified and dismantled a clandestine drug manufacturing facility in Haryana. At this location, officers recovered some raw materials used in the production of narcotics. This action strikes at the production source of the illicit drugs.
The six arrested persons were produced before an NDPS court in Jaipur on Tuesday. The court remanded all of them to judicial custody.
A Well-Organised Network Exposed
Officials stated that the seizure and arrests point to a highly networked narcotics syndicate. The syndicate was operating across several states in a well-organised manner. The bust disrupts a significant supply chain of synthetic drugs in the region.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence continues its investigation. They are probing the wider connections and financial trails of the syndicate to prevent future operations.
