Wanted Drug Trafficker Arrested After Gunfight with Police in Hanumangarh

Police arrested a 27-year-old wanted drug trafficker after a dramatic gunfight in Sangaria town of Hanumangarh district on Friday night. The accused, Rajvir alias Lucky Jhorad, carried a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head.

Intense Exchange of Fire

Hanumangarh SP Hari Shankar confirmed the arrest. He said the accused sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of fire. Police took him into custody immediately after the incident.

A police station in-charge narrowly escaped a grievous injury in the gunfight. SP Shankar provided this crucial detail about the dangerous encounter.

Coordinated Police Operation

Police teams from Sangaria police station, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), and the District Special Team (DST) conducted a search operation near the Tarmala culvert. They acted on specific inputs about armed drug traffickers entering Rajasthan from Punjab.

The accused allegedly opened fire upon noticing police pickets. Two bullets struck the bulletproof jacket of SHO Amar Singh. This fortunate circumstance averted what could have been a serious injury.

Police Retaliation and Arrest

In retaliation, police fired three rounds. One bullet struck the accused in the leg. Officers overpowered him following this injury.

Authorities admitted the injured accused to the government district hospital in Hanumangarh town for primary treatment. His condition stabilized under medical supervision.

Evidence Collection and Investigation

Police seized a country-made pistol from the accused at the scene. A forensic science laboratory team examined the crime scene thoroughly. Senior police officers inspected the site the same night to assess the situation.

The accused faces multiple pending cases. These include an attempted murder and Arms Act case registered in 2024 at Tibbi police station. He also faces an NDPS Act case registered in 2023 at Sangaria police station.

Criminal Network Links

Police allege the accused is involved in organised narcotics trafficking. He reportedly maintains links with criminal gangs operating across Haryana, Punjab, and other states. This network connection makes his arrest particularly significant for law enforcement agencies.

Legal Proceedings Initiated

Following the gunfight, police registered a fresh case against the accused. They invoked relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Hanumangarh Junction police station is carrying out further investigation into the matter.

Officials confirmed these legal steps as part of standard procedure after such encounters. The investigation aims to uncover additional details about the accused's criminal activities and associations.
