Drunken Argument Ends in Tragedy: Rickshaw Puller Killed in Delhi's Shahdara
Police in Delhi have arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly murdering a fellow rickshaw puller. The fatal incident occurred in the Gandhi Nagar area of Shahdara. It followed a heated drunken altercation between the two men.
Victim Identified as Danua from Hathras
The deceased victim has been identified as Danua. He was 36 years old and originally from Hathras district in Uttar Pradesh. Danua earned his living by running a small earthen pot-making shop. He also worked as a pedal rickshaw puller to support himself.
Police Respond to PCR Call Finding Body
Authorities received a PCR call around 9:50 PM on Saturday. The caller reported a man lying in a pool of blood near a school boundary wall in Mahila Colony. A police team rushed to the spot immediately.
They found Danua dead at the scene. He had sustained severe head injuries. The caller who alerted police helped identify the victim on site.
Dhaba Owner Narrates Sequence of Events
Around the same time, a 62-year-old dhaba owner from the locality filed a complaint. He provided police with a detailed account of what transpired earlier that evening.
According to his statement, Danua and another rickshaw puller named Bunti visited his dhaba. The two men started consuming liquor while sitting near a fire to keep warm. As they became intoxicated, a heated argument erupted between them.
The dhaba owner told police that both men began hurling abuses at each other. The verbal confrontation quickly escalated into physical violence.
Wooden Stick Used in Fatal Assault
As the argument intensified, Bunti allegedly picked up a wooden stick lying nearby. He then struck Danua on the head with the stick. Danua collapsed to the ground immediately after the blow.
He was later found dead at the same spot. The wooden stick believed to be used in the assault has been seized by police as evidence.
Accused Arrested from Aligarh
The accused, Bunti, is a 26-year-old resident of Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh. Police have arrested him in connection with the murder. He now faces serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Case Registered Under Murder Section
Authorities have registered a case under section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The case has been filed at the Geeta Colony police station. Investigation into the matter continues as police gather more details about the incident.
