Tragic Dumper Accident in Bulandshahr Claims Two Lives, Injures Two

In a devastating incident early Wednesday morning, two labourers lost their lives and two others sustained injuries when a gravel-laden dumper overturned on workers who were sleeping in an open field. The accident occurred near Mubarikpur village in the Khurja area of Bulandshahr district, according to police reports.

Details of the Fatal Morning Incident

Police stated that the tragic event unfolded around 7 am when the dumper arrived at the site for scheduled road construction work. While attempting to move forward to unload gravel, the vehicle's wheels became stuck in loose soil. This caused the dumper to lose balance and topple over, trapping four workers beneath both the vehicle and the gravel it was carrying.

Co-workers at the scene acted quickly to rescue two of the trapped individuals, Vijay Kumar and Rakesh Singh, rushing them to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. However, rescue teams later recovered the bodies of two other workers from the wreckage.

Victims Identified as Local Residents

The deceased have been identified as Rakesh Kumar, aged 30, and Pawan Banwari, aged 35. Both were residents of Rahimkot village. Circle officer Shobhit Kumar Attri provided updates on the investigation, stating, "The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and no formal complaint has been filed so far in connection with this tragic accident."

Narrow Escape for Six Other Workers

Police investigations revealed that ten workers were present at the construction site when the accident occurred. In a fortunate turn of events, six of these workers had woken up and moved away from the sleeping area just moments before the dumper overturned. This timely awakening allowed them to narrowly escape the same fate as their colleagues, highlighting the precarious nature of construction site safety.

The incident has raised serious questions about safety protocols at construction sites, particularly regarding the sleeping arrangements for labourers who often rest in open areas near their work locations. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine whether any negligence contributed to this preventable tragedy.
