Dutch-Indian National Arrested for Sending Ritual Parcel to Bengaluru Airport
In a bizarre incident at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, a 65-year-old Dutch national of Indian origin has been arrested for allegedly sending a parcel containing unusual and disturbing items to the airport's administrative office. The man, identified as Subhash Jai Ajeez, dispatched the parcel in January this year, prompting authorities to launch a detailed investigation.
Contents of the Parcel and Initial Inquiry
According to police reports, the parcel sent by Ajeez included a mix of peculiar objects: a toothpaste cover, decaying flower garlands, rotten tomatoes, pieces of iron, and obscene photographs. This collection raised immediate concerns among airport officials, leading to a preliminary inquiry. After assessing the situation, a formal complaint was filed on March 4, setting the stage for a thorough police probe.
Tracking and Arrest of the Suspect
Police utilized a combination of CCTV footage and local intelligence to trace Ajeez. He was eventually found sleeping near a temple in the Madiwala area of Bengaluru. A senior officer involved in the case stated that Ajeez was taken into custody without incident and subsequently questioned about his motives.
Suspect's Explanation and Background
During interrogation, Ajeez claimed that the parcel was part of a ritual intended to prevent "untoward incidents" at the airport. He insisted he had no malicious intent and revealed that he had sent similar parcels to other airports as well. Ajeez is an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholder and a retired professional who receives a monthly pension of approximately €2,000. The officer noted that Ajeez appeared mentally disturbed during questioning, emphasizing his belief that his actions were solely aimed at ensuring safety at Bengaluru airport.

Following his arrest, Ajeez has been remanded to judicial custody. Police have indicated that further action will depend on the results of his medical examination, which is currently underway.
