According to a complaint filed by Prashanth K. Kotian, a 43-year-old resident of Tenka Ermalu village in Kaup taluk, the accident took place at Tenka Ermal. Shenoy was walking along the roadside from Udupi towards Padubidri when a car, allegedly driven by Suresh in a rash and negligent manner, struck him from behind.

The impact of the collision caused Shenoy to fall onto the road, where he sustained severe head injuries. Immediate efforts were made to assist the victim, with the complainant, other bystanders, and the driver transporting him in the same car to Udupi for urgent medical treatment.

Medical Response and Legal Action

Despite the swift response, doctors at the Udupi District Government Hospital declared Shenoy dead upon arrival. The Padubidri police station has registered a case in connection with the incident, invoking sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) to address the alleged rash and negligent driving.
