Elderly Woman Duped of Gold Jewellery Worth Rs 1.6 Lakh

Nashik: Two unidentified suspects allegedly duped a 64-year-old woman of her gold jewellery valued at Rs 1.6 lakh after administering water laced with sedatives near the Nashik civil hospital on Wednesday. The victim filed a complaint with the Sarkarwada police station on Thursday.

Incident Details

According to the complaint, the elderly woman, a resident of Chunchale, had visited the hospital to obtain medication for her aching legs. After her appointment, around noon, she encountered two unknown women outside the hospital gate. One suspect appeared to be about 50 years old, while the other was around 60, she stated.

The suspects claimed they were new to the city and searching for a jewellery store. Unaware of their intentions, the woman agreed to accompany them in an autorickshaw and directed them to several shops. They eventually returned to the hospital area, where they persuaded her to sit by the roadside and offered her water. Upon consuming the water, she lost consciousness. When she regained awareness, she discovered her gold chain (worth Rs 1 lakh) and earrings (worth Rs 50,000) missing. The two women had fled the scene.
