Kolkata Gang Rape Case: Minor Girl Drugged and Assaulted
The Sarsuna Police have registered a case alleging the drugging and gang rape of a minor girl in Kolkata. The incident reportedly occurred between April 17 and 18, and an obscene video was recorded to threaten the victim. The case was registered on Wednesday under sections 123, 351(2) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with sections 4, 6 and 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
Details of the Incident
According to the complaint filed by the girl's mother, her daughter was approached at Behala and offered a lift. The girl allegedly entered a car where two unknown men and one of her school friends were present. The complaint alleges that after the girl got into the vehicle, she was offered a chocolate laced with sedatives, which caused her to become drugged. She was then taken to an unidentified location where the accused committed penetrative sexual assault on her. The complainant further alleged that the accused recorded an inappropriate video of the minor and threatened her with serious consequences if she contacted the police.
Delayed FIR Due to Trauma
The complaint stated that the girl remained in severe trauma following the incident, which prevented the family from immediately lodging an FIR. The police have confirmed that an investigation has been initiated to identify and trace the accused. Efforts are also underway to verify the alleged role of the second girl, the school friend, who was present in the vehicle. Authorities are working to identify the vehicle and the location where the assault allegedly took place.
Investigation Progress
Officials said that statements of witnesses have already been collected as part of the ongoing investigation. The police are taking all necessary steps to ensure justice for the victim and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
