The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Udaipur on Saturday arrested Sandeepa Vohra, branch manager of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) in Chittorgarh, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. The bribe was demanded to clear the medical bills and leave payments of a paralysed employee.
Details of the Complaint
According to the ACB, the complaint was received through intelligence inputs indicating that Vohra was demanding a bribe to process the claims of an L&T employee posted at Hindustan Zinc, Chanderia. The employee had suffered a paralytic stroke while on duty in August 2025.
Pressure on Family and HR
Officials stated that the accused had been pressuring the employee's family members and the company's HR manager to pay money in exchange for clearing medical bills and leave-related payments.
Trap Laid by ACB Team
A team was constituted under the supervision of ACB Deputy Inspector General of Police Dr. Rameshwar Singh, led by ACB Special Unit Udaipur in-charge ASP Anil Joshi. After verifying the bribe demand, Inspector Laxman Dangi and his team laid a trap to catch the accused red-handed. The complainant reached Vohra's office with the bribe money, which the accused allegedly accepted.
Arrest and Recovery
Following this, the ACB team immediately nabbed her and recovered the bribe amount from her possession. Officials have claimed that the investigation revealed that Vohra was a habitual offender and had allegedly demanded bribes in multiple cases. She had previously allegedly accepted a Rs 40,000 bribe to clear an employee's claims.
Further Investigation
Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
