Former Domestic Help Held for Stealing Cash from Manoj Tiwari's Mumbai Home
Amboli police have arrested a former domestic help for stealing valuables from the Andheri residence of singer, actor, and politician Manoj Tiwari. The arrest followed a complaint filed by Tiwari's manager, Pramod Pandey, which led to an FIR being registered on January 16.
Complaint Details and Background
According to the complaint, the domestic help, Surendra Sharma, was fired two years ago due to unsatisfactory behaviour. Despite his dismissal, Sharma continued to visit the house intermittently. In June 2025, a significant theft occurred when Rs 4.4 lakh in cash disappeared from a bedroom cupboard.
This incident prompted Pandey to install security cameras in the house in December 2025 as a precautionary measure.
CCTV Footage Captures the Crime
On January 15, while Pandey was away for work, the CCTV system alerted him around 9 pm about an intruder detection. The cameras had recorded Sharma stealing money from the same bedroom cupboard.
Pandey immediately contacted the society watchman and instructed him to detain Sharma with assistance from other guards. Upon inspection, Pandey discovered that Rs 1 lakh in cash was missing from the cupboard.
Confession and Arrest
Sharma confessed to the thefts during questioning. He admitted to possessing duplicate keys for the cupboard, bedroom door, and the main house entrance, which facilitated his unauthorized access.
The Amboli police took Sharma into custody based on the evidence and his confession, marking a resolution to the series of thefts that had troubled the household.
