Faridabad Police Apprehend Two Suspects in Firing and Extortion Incident Following Encounter
The Faridabad police have successfully arrested two individuals accused of involvement in a firing incident and extortion demands, following a dramatic encounter. One of the accused sustained a gunshot wound to the leg during the confrontation and was subsequently hospitalized for treatment.
Details of the Criminal Activities
According to police reports, the accused allegedly targeted a liquor shop and the office of BJP leader Vinod Bhati. The incidents occurred on Saturday, with the suspects firing at the liquor shop near Chandawali village traffic light and, half an hour later, at Bhati's office. Following the firing, they threatened a salesman at the liquor shop, demanding money, and left an extortion note at the BJP leader's residence, seeking Rs 50 lakh.
The Police Operation and Encounter
On Wednesday night, Crime Branch Uncha Gaon in-charge Sundar Singh received intelligence that two armed criminals were expected to arrive near Sotai village in the IMT area. A police team swiftly moved to the location and cornered the suspects. When the accused opened fire at the officers, the police retaliated in self-defense, resulting in one of the accused, identified as Anil alias Khan Gurjar, being shot in the leg.
During the operation, law enforcement officials seized a pistol and impounded a motorcycle from the accused. Gurjar, who was injured, was admitted to the Civil Hospital in Faridabad for medical care.
Identification and Criminal Background of the Accused
The arrested individuals have been identified as Anil alias Khan Gurjar, a resident of Machhgar village, and Manish, from Chandawali village in Faridabad. Police investigations reveal that Gurjar has a significant criminal history, facing 12 prior cases, including charges of robbery, dacoity, attempted murder, and violations under the Arms Act. He was previously arrested and jailed in July 2025 in connection with an attempted murder case and was released just two months ago.
A spokesperson for the Faridabad police confirmed these details, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to combat organized crime in the region. The arrests highlight the police's proactive measures in responding to threats and ensuring public safety.
