Violent Altercation Over Food Leads to Fatal Attack
Santhosh Kumar, aged 32, suffered severe head injuries during a heated argument with his elder brother. The dispute reportedly centered around food. Their father, Ramakrishnan, intervened in a brutal manner.
Police state that Ramakrishnan, 62, struck Santhosh on the head with an iron rod. This action caused critical injuries. The family did not call for medical assistance immediately. Santhosh died on the spot from his wounds.
Family Dynamics and Police Intervention
Only Ramakrishnan and his two sons were present in the house at the time. Both Sanal, the elder brother aged 36, and Santhosh were unmarried. Santhosh was undergoing treatment for a mental illness. His family described him as having violent tendencies.
Ramakrishnan alerted a local panchayat member on Friday morning. He confessed to assaulting his younger son. Ramakrishnan claimed he could no longer endure Santhosh's behavior. The panchayat member then informed the Sasthamkotta police.
Arrests and Legal Charges
Police officers arrived at the scene to find a grim situation. Santhosh's body was discovered in his bedroom. Ramakrishnan and Sanal had sat with the body throughout the night.
The duo confessed to the crime and surrendered to the authorities. Police arrested both men and took them to the station. Their arrests were formally recorded.
A police officer provided details about the case. The act was allegedly committed with the knowledge that such an assault could result in death, the officer stated. Ramakrishnan faces a murder charge under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
