In a significant crackdown on illicit arms trade, the Fazilka Police successfully apprehended three individuals in possession of illegal firearms on Monday. The operation, based on a specific tip-off, prevented the potential sale of weapons in the area.

Acting swiftly on confidential information, a team from the Fazilka Police's Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) moved into action. Sunil Kumar, the CIA in-charge, along with investigating officer Radheshyam, led the operation. The police had received credible intelligence indicating that the accused were planning to conduct an illegal transaction involving firearms near the Jodha Bhaini locality.

Seizure and Arrest Details

The police team intercepted the suspects and conducted a search. The recovery from the trio was substantial and included:

  • Two pistols
  • Two magazines
  • Five live cartridges

During preliminary interrogation following the arrest, the accused disclosed their intentions to sell the illegal weapons. They revealed that the planned selling price for one pistol was approximately Rs 60,000, highlighting the lucrative and dangerous nature of the black market for arms.

Identities and Legal Proceedings

The police have identified the arrested individuals as Chhinder Singh, Jagdish Singh, and Sandeep Singh. All three are residents of Dhandi Qadim. After their arrest, the accused were formally produced before a local court. The court has granted police custody remand, allowing investigators to conduct a deeper probe into their network, sources of the weapons, and potential clients.
