The Nakodar police have arrested two individuals on charges of consuming heroin. The accused, identified as Manga and Fariyad, residents of Sohal Khurd village, were found in possession of two lighters, silver papers, and plastic pipes used for consuming contraband. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against them.
Nurmahal and Bilga Police Arrests
In separate incidents, the Nurmahal police arrested drug addicts Vijay Kumar of Mehsampur village and Sandeep Kumar of Kot Badal Khan village. Meanwhile, the Bilga police apprehended Suraj of Talwann village, also on charges of drug addiction.
Scooter Stolen from Shop
In another incident, two youths stole a scooter (PB-36-2724) parked outside Deepak Cold Drinks in Hargobind Nagar, Phagwara, on Sunday evening. The shop owner, Sanjeev Kaura, stated that he was closing his shop when the suspects drove away his vehicle. Despite informing the police immediately and providing CCTV footage, the scooter has not been traced, and no FIR has been registered yet.
Four Women Booked for Theft
The Shahkot police have booked four women—Shapni, Rajni, Kajal, and Jeena, all residents of Barnala—on charges of stealing submersible motors and other items from a shop. Chandar Mohan, a resident of Mohalla Baghwala, Shahkot, filed a complaint alleging that the accused stole four submersible motors, 500 yards of wire, and other items from his shop. A case has been registered against them.
Two Women Booked for Assault
The Nakodar police have booked three members of a family, including two women, for assaulting another woman. The accused are Sarabjit Kaur of Malarri village, her son Gurpreet, and her daughter-in-law Aashu. Sandeep Kaur, a resident of the same village, complained that the accused waylaid and attacked her on May 14, causing injuries and threatening her with dire consequences.
Man Held with Drug Money
The Shahkot police arrested a man, Rahul alias Mota, a resident of Hajipur village, on charges of financing illegal drug trade. A dope test confirmed his drug use, and police recovered Rs 21,600 in drug money from his possession. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against him.
