Foul Play Suspected in Trawler Owner's Death in Goa

The Goa Fishing Boat Owners Association (GBOA) has raised suspicions of foul play in the death of a trawler owner whose body was recovered from the Zuari rivulet near the Cortalim ferry on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Manjunath Harikant, a 65-year-old native of Karnataka.

GBOA President Jose Philip D’Souza stated that Harikant’s death occurred under suspicious circumstances. According to D’Souza, Harikant had ventured into the sea with two crew members. However, upon their return, the trawler was found abandoned, and the fishing nets were missing from the vessel. Harikant’s body was later discovered floating in the Zuari rivulet.

D’Souza has demanded a thorough investigation into the incident. The Verna police are currently looking into the case. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
