In a significant development following the catastrophic firecracker unit blast at Kattanarpatti in Virudhunagar district, which claimed the lives of 25 workers, law enforcement authorities have made four arrests. Prime Accused Surrenders Before District Court
According to a senior police official, one of the key suspects, identified as Muthu Manickam, aged 44 and a resident of Govindanallur village in Sivakasi, voluntarily surrendered before the Virudhunagar district court on Tuesday. Details of the Arrests and Investigation
The police have taken into custody three additional individuals in connection with the blast. Those arrested include Muthuraj, 42, from Thummanayakkanpatti; Vairamuthu, 29, from Govindanallur; and Vetrivel, 28, whose full address was specified. Furthermore, Muthu Krishna Kumar, 33, from Sivakasi, was also apprehended separately. The official confirmed that all 25 victims of the explosion have been positively identified, and their bodies have been respectfully handed over to their grieving families.
A multidisciplinary team comprising forensic experts, fire and rescue personnel, and authorities from the Petroleum & Explosives Safety Organization (PESO) is set to conduct a thorough and detailed investigation into the accident.
