Police in Greater Noida have successfully cracked a case of armed carjacking with the arrest of four members of a criminal gang. The breakthrough came after a dramatic gunfight on a service road, leading to subsequent arrests in Bulandshahr.
Armed Robbery and Swift Police Action
The case originated from a complaint filed on December 24 by Sudhir Kumar, a project manager working for a private company. Kumar reported to the Kasna police station that he was robbed of his white Swift car at gunpoint in Chhirsi village, Kasna. The assailants also took his wallet, which contained ATM cards, his voter ID, PAN card, Aadhaar card, and approximately Rs 20,000 in cash.
Based on his complaint, the police registered a case under section 309(6) (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and began investigations.
Dramatic Encounter Leads to Initial Arrests
On Monday, police teams tracked the suspects to the green belt area on the Omicron 1A service road in Greater Noida. Upon being surrounded by the police, the accused opened fire, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
Two of the men, identified as Amit alias Muttu Kasai (32) and Shailendra (22), sustained injuries when police returned fire. They were subsequently apprehended. From their possession, police recovered the stolen white Swift car, two pistols, and two live cartridges.
Following this encounter, additional charges under BNS section 109 (attempt to murder) and relevant provisions of the Arms Act were added to the case.
Network Unravels with More Arrests
During interrogation, the arrested duo, Amit and Shailendra, revealed the names of their accomplices. Acting on this information, police on Tuesday arrested two more alleged gang members from Bulandshahr.
The newly arrested individuals were identified as Dharmendra Yadav (27) and Anurag alias Annu (32). From Dharmendra's possession, police seized an unregistered Yamaha motorcycle along with the snatched ATM cards and other documents belonging to the victim.

These cases include charges of robbery, attempt to murder, along with violations of the Arms Act and the NDPS Act.
