Four held for murder of cyber criminal in Dumka

In a significant development, Dumka police have apprehended four individuals in connection with the brutal murder of a 25-year-old man, a case rooted in a financial dispute among individuals involved in cybercrime. The victim, identified as Vikash Kumar Yadav alias Vicky, hailed from the Banka district of Bihar.

The Grisly Discovery and Immediate Arrests

The investigation was triggered on December 15, when the bullet-riddled body of Vikash Yadav was discovered at an abandoned spot near Sakribandh. The location falls under the jurisdiction of the Taljhari police station in Dumka. Acting swiftly on clues, the police managed to track down and arrest four suspects linked to the killing.

Those taken into custody have been named as Chandrakant Kumar Yadav (21), Dhiraj Kumar (22), Nitesh Kumar alias Widdu (22), and Arvind Kumar (19). Authorities have also made critical seizures, recovering the firearm believed to be used in the crime as well as a car utilized by the assailants.

A Dispute Among Criminals and Relatives

Dumka Superintendent of Police (SP) Pitambar Singh Kherwar provided chilling details of the motive. According to the police probe, the murder resulted from a quarrel over money. The deceased owed a sum to the main accused, Sandeep Yadav, who remains at large. This debt was related to the share of proceeds from a fraudulent cybercrime operation.

"The probe revealed that the deceased owed money to the main accused, pertaining to the share in a fraud, and was reluctant to pay the amount," SP Kherwar stated. Adding a layer of complexity to the case, he mentioned that the main accused and the victim were distant relatives.

Modus Operandi and Ongoing Manhunt

The police narrative outlines a premeditated crime. It is alleged that Sandeep Yadav, along with the four now-arrested accomplices, abducted Vikash Yadav before executing him. The police confirmed that the victim was also involved in cybercrime, indicating a falling out among partners in illegal activities.

While the four arrests mark a breakthrough, the hunt intensifies for the prime suspect. "The main accused — Sandeep Yadav — is still at large," emphasized SP Kherwar. The investigation continues as authorities piece together the full sequence of events and track down the fugitive.
