Tragic Accident Claims Life of 11-Year-Old Boy in Ghaziabad
In a heartbreaking incident, an 11-year-old boy lost his life after falling into an open drain while playing near his home in Ghaziabad's Mazra Jhundpura village. The tragedy occurred on Wednesday evening, sending shockwaves through the local community and raising serious questions about public safety infrastructure.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The young victim, identified as Ahil, was playing approximately 50 metres from his residence when he accidentally stumbled into a drain that was about 2.5 feet deep. According to police reports, the drain was neither covered nor secured with any protective boundary wall, despite being located in an area frequently used by children for play.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Masuri) Lipi Nagaich confirmed that local authorities were not immediately informed about the accident. Family members and neighbors quickly pulled the unconscious boy from the drain and rushed him to Rama Hospital, a private medical facility located in Pilkhuwa town of the neighboring Hapur district, which is roughly 15 kilometers away.
Hospital Declaration and Aftermath
Despite the frantic efforts to save him, Ahil was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Following the completion of a postmortem examination, the Pilkhuwa police handed over the body to the grieving family. The young boy was laid to rest on Thursday, leaving the community in mourning.

Residents of Mazra Jhundpura village have expressed significant anger and frustration toward municipal authorities, alleging gross negligence in maintaining public safety. They claim that the uncovered drain posed a constant danger, especially with children often playing in the vicinity.
