A 36-year-old man from Ghaziabad, reportedly undergoing treatment for mental illness since 2008, was arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly sending hoax bomb threat emails to multiple organisations, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and an Air India flight.
Accused Identified as Nishant Tyagi
The accused has been identified as Nishant Tyagi. According to police, the emails were sent on June 29, claiming bombs had been planted at the headquarters of the NIA, ISRO, Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), DRDO, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation. A separate email also threatened an Air India flight from New Delhi to New York.
Security Protocols Activated, Threats Found False
Officials stated that standard security protocols were immediately activated across multiple agencies. After thorough checks, all threats were determined to be false. The police analysed two email accounts allegedly used to send the messages. The digital trail led investigators to a mobile number linked to the accounts, which helped trace the suspect.
