Ghaziabad Police Makes Tragic Discovery in Masuri Forest
In a tragic turn of events, the Ghaziabad Police recovered the skeletal remains of a 10-year-old boy on Monday, nearly two months after he was reported missing. The grim discovery was made in a forest area near Noorpur village under Masuri police station limits.
Identification and Initial Complaint
The deceased has been identified as Lavish Kumar, a resident of Samaypur village in Masuri. According to DCP (Rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari, the boy's elder brother, Sagar, filed a missing person's report at Masuri police station on November 4. This was a day after Lavish went missing on November 3.
The breakthrough came when a local farmer, who was watering his crops, spotted the clothes and skeletal remains in Noorpur. The location was merely 500 metres away from the boy's own village, Samaypur. The farmer immediately alerted the authorities.
Decomposition and Investigation Challenges
"The body had decomposed, leaving only the skeleton. It is possible that animals mauled the body during this period," stated DCP Tiwari. He confirmed that the remains were sent for a post-mortem examination, but the autopsy report could not conclusively establish the cause of death.
In a crucial step for identification, the boy's mother recognized her son from a T-shirt and underwear found near the skeletal remains. "Soon, police will conduct a DNA test to ascertain the identity conclusively," added Tiwari. The remains have also been sent for a detailed forensic investigation, whose reports are currently awaited.
Family's Anguish and Plea for Justice
Lavish was a Class 2 student at a private school. His brother Sagar works as a government fourth-grade employee. The family lost their father to cancer eight years ago. Recounting the day Lavish disappeared, Sagar said, "On November 3 afternoon, my mother cooked food. Before lunch could be served, Lavish went out and did not return home by evening."
He mentioned that while there had been a fight between Lavish and another boy in the area, it was resolved before the disappearance. Family members and neighbours conducted extensive searches but found no trace of him until Monday's tragic discovery.
The grieving family now suspects foul play and believes Lavish was murdered. They have urgently appealed to the police to investigate the case thoroughly and ensure action is taken against the culprits. The police have formed special teams to probe all angles of this heartbreaking case.
