Ghaziabad Liquor Shop Employee Abducted and Brutally Assaulted in Midnight Incident

A shocking case of abduction and assault has emerged from Ghaziabad, where a liquor shop salesman was forcibly taken, brutally beaten, and held captive for nearly five hours before being released following a payment of Rs 25,000. The incident occurred in the Vijay Nagar area, with police now investigating what appears to be an illegal money recovery rather than a random kidnapping for ransom.

Midnight Abduction from Siddharth Vihar

The victim, identified as 53-year-old Kailash Singh, a resident of Amroha who works as a salesman at a liquor shop in Siddharth Vihar, stepped out of his workplace around 1am on January 21 to dispose of rubbish in a nearby open field. According to police reports, three men allegedly forced him into a car at that moment and drove away with him.

Singh was kept confined inside the vehicle for several hours, during which he was repeatedly beaten until he lost consciousness. The attackers not only robbed him of cash and a gold ring but also forced him to share contact details of his family members and acquaintances. The assailants later contacted one of his colleagues, Sunil Kumar, threatening further harm unless Rs 25,000–30,000 was transferred to a specified account.

Family's Harrowing Experience and Payment

Singh's son, Pankaj Kumar, told police he received a call from Sunil around 3.20am informing him that his father had been abducted. Fearing for his father's life, Pankaj transferred Rs 25,000 in two instalments to the account specified by the abductors. Police revealed that even after the money was credited, Singh was assaulted again before being dumped on a road approximately 200 metres from the liquor shop.

A security guard from a nearby residential complex spotted Singh lying on the road and alerted Sunil, following which police and a Dial 112 team took him to a hospital in Sahibabad. He was later shifted to Yashoda Hospital in Nehru Nagar, where he remained on a ventilator for two days, indicating the severity of his injuries.

Police Investigation Reveals Money Dispute Connection

An FIR has been registered at Vijay Nagar police station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:

  • Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt)
  • Section 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace)
  • Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation)
  • Section 308(5) (extortion)
  • Section 309(6) (robbery)
  • Section 140(2) (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder or for ransom)
  • Section 110 (attempt to culpable homicide)

Police investigation later revealed inconsistencies between the victim's account and technical evidence. Officers discovered the money had been transferred to a bank account rather than a mobile wallet, and that similar transactions had occurred earlier. The account holder, a local resident known as "Chaudhary Sahib" from Pratap Vihar, was taken into custody.

Illegal Money Recovery Rather Than Random Kidnapping

Preliminary questioning suggested the incident may have stemmed from a dispute over money linked to alleged overpricing of liquor late at night. Police indicated that the victim and the accused were known to each other, changing the nature of the case significantly.

"This appears to be an illegal recovery of money rather than a kidnapping for ransom," a senior police officer stated, highlighting how what initially seemed like a random violent crime actually had connections to prior financial disputes.

Currently, one suspect has been detained while two others remain absconding. Police have formed three special teams to trace and arrest the remaining accused, with the investigation continuing to uncover further details about the money dispute that allegedly triggered this violent episode.
