Tragedy in Muzaffarpur: 13-Year-Old Girl Electrocuted, 3 Injured as Truck Snaps Pole
Girl, 13, dies after truck pulls down electric pole in Muzaffarpur

A tragic incident in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district claimed the life of a 13-year-old schoolgirl and left three of her classmates injured on Saturday. The fatal accident occurred when a speeding truck snagged a low-hanging electricity wire, causing the connected pole to collapse onto the group of students.

How the Fatal Incident Unfolded

The victim has been identified as Vindhyachali Kumari, a Class VII student at Belwar Higher Secondary School and the daughter of Subodh Paswan. The incident took place in the Shankar Tola village under the Bahilwara Rupnath Dakshin panchayat, within the Saraiya police station area.

According to eyewitness accounts and police reports, a group of eight girls, all aged between 12 and 15 years, were walking to their school. A truck approaching from behind caught a poorly maintained, low-hanging electricity wire. The vehicle's momentum dragged the wire along the road, placing immense strain on the supporting pole.

The sudden tension caused the electric pole to snap at its base, sending it crashing directly onto the path of the young students. Vindhyachali Kumari suffered the full impact of the falling pole and live wires, leading to fatal electrocution. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Injuries, Aftermath, and Police Investigation

Three other girls—Ritika Kumari, Anshu Kumari, and Divya Kumari—sustained injuries in the harrowing event. They were immediately rushed to the Saraiya Primary Health Centre for urgent medical treatment. The condition of the injured students is being monitored.

In a callous act, the driver of the truck responsible for the catastrophe fled the spot immediately after the incident, leaving the victims in distress.

Saraiya Station House Officer (SHO) Subhash Mukhiya provided details on the ongoing probe. "The body is being sent to the SKMCH for a postmortem examination, and further legal action is being taken in the case," stated SHO Mukhiya. He emphasized that investigations are actively underway to fix responsibility on two key fronts: the driver and owner of the involved truck, and the authorities responsible for the dangerously maintained power infrastructure that allowed wires to hang low.

Avoidable Tragedy Highlights Infrastructure Neglect

This heartbreaking event in Muzaffarpur underscores a persistent and deadly issue in many parts of the country: neglected public infrastructure. The combination of a speeding vehicle and poorly maintained electrical wires culminated in the untimely death of a young student with a promising future.

The police investigation will now focus on tracing the absconding truck driver and determining which agency or department is accountable for the hazardous electrical lines. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising serious questions about safety standards and maintenance protocols for essential utilities near residential and school zones.
