Goa Port Theft: FIR Filed Against Trio for Iron Pellets Heist at Mormugao Port

In a significant development at the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) in Vasco, Goa, the local police have taken decisive action by filing a First Information Report (FIR) against three individuals. The accused are alleged to have been involved in the theft of iron pellets belonging to Delta Pvt Ltd, a serious incident that occurred within the secure premises of the port.

Details of the Alleged Theft and Deception

The case revolves around a cunning scheme where the accused, instead of performing their assigned task of loading coal at Adani Mormugao Pvt Ltd, illicitly loaded iron pellets from Delta Pvt Ltd. In an attempt to evade detection, they presented forged weighment slips to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials, falsely claiming the consignment was steam coal. This deception was carried out around 7:30 PM on February 26, as they exited the MPA gate with the truck.

The police have seized the truck involved in the incident, marking a crucial step in the investigation. The FIR was registered following a formal complaint from a CISF MPA Goa unit official, highlighting the breach of security protocols.

Identities of the Accused and Legal Proceedings

The three individuals named in the FIR include Asif Babasaheb Dambal, a native of Belagavi, and Suresh Lad, a resident of Xeldem, who is identified as the owner and driver of the truck. Additionally, an unidentified person is also implicated in the case. Authorities are actively working to uncover the full extent of their involvement and any potential accomplices.

This incident underscores ongoing concerns about security measures at major ports in India, prompting calls for enhanced vigilance and stricter enforcement of regulations to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
