Eight Alleged JeM Operatives Held in Gujarat
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested eight suspected members of the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), who were allegedly working to establish an active terror network in the state, officials said on July 3, 2026.
The arrests were made following a joint operation based on intelligence inputs. The accused have been identified and are currently in custody for interrogation.
Details of the Operation
According to the ATS, the suspects were in the process of setting up sleeper cells and recruiting youths for carrying out terrorist activities in Gujarat. The operation led to the recovery of incriminating materials, including electronic devices and documents that suggest links with handlers based in Pakistan.
"The accused were working to establish an active terror network in Gujarat," an ATS official stated, confirming that the module was at an early stage of planning.
Impact and Investigation
The arrests have been hailed as a significant blow to JeM's efforts to expand its footprint in western India. The ATS is now probing the financial and logistical support network behind the suspects. Further arrests are not ruled out as investigations continue.
