Gujarat Court Delivers Death Penalty for Heinous Crime Against Minor
A trial court in Rajkot, Gujarat, has handed down the death sentence to a man found guilty of brutally raping a seven-year-old girl. Authorities arrested the man on December 9 under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. They submitted the chargesheet on December 19, just twelve days after the arrest. This quick action demonstrates the police's commitment to the case.
Deputy CM's Strong Message on Social Media
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi took to social media platform X to express his views. He stated the verdict sends a clear message from the Gujarat government. "Attack on our daughters equals death," he wrote emphatically.
Sanghavi, who also serves as Home Minister, emphasized the state's zero tolerance policy. He said the government will not tolerate offences against minor daughters and women. His public statement reinforces the administration's stance on such crimes.

The survivor herself provided a statement in court, along with other children who were playing with her. Despite enduring severe torture, the child spoke well during the proceedings. The court also ordered compensation of seven lakh rupees for the survivor.
Superintendent Gurjar outlined the investigation led by ASP Simran Bharadwaj. The team collected physical and technical evidence meticulously. They took witness statements and conducted identification parades to build a strong case.
District Government Pleader SK Vora and APP Prashant Patel represented the prosecution. The victim's family requested a speedy trial, which the court granted by holding day-to-day hearings. This approach ensured no unnecessary delays.

Authorities booked him for attempt to murder on December 10 in connection with this incident. A third FIR, lodged on December 13, targeted a politician who revealed the survivor's identity on social media. This action shows the police's comprehensive response to all aspects of the case.
