Gurgaon Grapples with Multiple Fire Incidents on Sunday
Gurgaon witnessed a series of fire emergencies on Sunday, with three separate incidents reported across the city. The most significant blaze occurred at a Tata Motors warehouse located near Hero Honda Chowk, which took firefighting teams over three hours and multiple fire tenders to bring under control.
Major Blaze at Tata Motors Warehouse
The warehouse fire ignited around 11 am in an area storing cardboard boxes. Due to the presence of highly combustible materials, the flames escalated rapidly. Employees on-site initially attempted to contain the fire, with nearby units deploying water jets, but the spread was too swift. Fortunately, three workers inside the warehouse managed to escape unharmed.
Fire officials received an emergency call at approximately 11:30 am at the Sector 37 fire station, prompting an immediate response. A total of 18 fire tenders were deployed to combat the intense blaze. Although the fire has been subdued, a tin shed collapsed at the site during the operation. As a precautionary measure, one fire tender remains stationed at the warehouse.
Preliminary investigations point to a short circuit as a potential cause, though welding work being conducted on the premises is also under scrutiny. The warehouse, spanning nearly an acre, is situated adjacent to a workshop. A detailed probe is currently underway to determine the exact origin and circumstances of the fire.
Additional Fire Incidents Across the City
In a separate event, a fire broke out at a residential house and an adjoining fan-and-cooler shop on Khandsa Road. Thick plumes of smoke billowed into the sky, but residents and workers evacuated in time, resulting in no injuries.
Another blaze was reported in an open area near Delhi Public School along the Dwarka Expressway. Accumulated scrap and debris caught fire, with officials suspecting that a lit cigarette or deliberate ignition may have triggered the incident. The flames spread quickly in the high temperatures before being contained by firefighting teams.
Fire Department Issues Caution Amid Rising Temperatures
Fire department officials have highlighted that increasing temperatures are contributing to the rapid spread of fires. They have urged residents and businesses to exercise heightened caution and adhere to safety protocols to prevent such emergencies. The incidents underscore the need for vigilance during the hot summer months.
