Woman Gangraped at Deserted Dhaba in Bahadurgarh, Four Suspects Arrested
A shocking incident of sexual violence has rocked Bahadurgarh in Gurgaon. Early on Monday morning, a 42-year-old woman became the victim of a brutal gangrape at a deserted roadside dhaba. Police have moved swiftly, arresting four of the five accused within hours of the crime.
The Harrowing Sequence of Events
The woman, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, had traveled to Delhi's neighboring town with her uncle. They were searching for employment opportunities. Around 2 am on January 12, they disembarked from their bus at Pandit Shree Ram Sharma metro station on Delhi Metro's Green Line.
Her cousin arrived to pick them up. That is when they first noticed the five men following them. The situation quickly turned dangerous.
"By approximately 2:30 am, the men forcibly separated the woman from her relatives," a senior police officer revealed. "They intimidated her uncle and cousin before taking her to a deserted dhaba on Delhi-Rohtak Road."
The dhaba stands just about 100 meters from the metro station. There, the group sexually assaulted the woman.
Police Investigation and Critical Breakthrough
After the family approached authorities, multiple police teams sprang into action. The woman's statement was recorded meticulously. An FIR was registered at City police station in Bahadurgarh.
Medical examination was conducted promptly. Her statement was also recorded before a magistrate to ensure legal validity.
Initially, the woman told officers the accused had stolen some belongings. She insisted nothing else occurred. However, investigators uncovered crucial evidence that told a different story.
Police recovered the digital video recorder of a CCTV camera from the dhaba. This device captured the sexual assault clearly. "She then agreed to provide a detailed statement," Police Commissioner Rajshree Singh stated. "Her uncle subsequently filed a formal complaint."
Digital Evidence Leads to Arrests
The investigation took a decisive turn with digital evidence. Shortly before the assault, the accused purchased liquor from a nearby shop. They paid Rs 100 in cash while transferring the remaining Rs 30 digitally through UPI.
This transaction became a critical lead for investigators. "Tracing the Paytm account allowed us to identify the suspects," explained a police officer involved in the probe. "We could reconstruct the entire sequence of events accurately."
Local Crime Investigation Agency teams analyzed CCTV footage from the dhaba and surrounding areas. They tracked the suspects' movements carefully.
Investigators employed multiple techniques:
- Digital payment records analysis
- Call detail records examination
- Social media activity scrutiny
- Local intelligence inputs
These methods helped narrow down the accused effectively.
Swift Police Action and Ongoing Efforts
Within just eight hours of the crime, police arrested four men. All are residents of Bahadurgarh originally from Bihar. They were living in rented accommodation in the Chhotu Ramnagar area.
Police have not disclosed their names publicly. A test identification parade remains pending. The arrested individuals were produced before a Bahadurgarh court on Wednesday. The court remanded them in police custody for two days.
"Our efforts continue to identify and apprehend the fifth accused," an officer confirmed. "We are pursuing all available leads."
Commitment to Women's Safety
Commissioner Singh praised her teams for the rapid arrests. She emphasized the department's dedication to ensuring women's safety across the region.
"Strict action will be taken against those involved in crimes against women," she asserted firmly. "No offender will be spared under any circumstances."
The case highlights both the vulnerabilities women face and the potential of digital evidence in modern policing. As investigations proceed, authorities remain focused on delivering justice while sending a strong message against gender-based violence.
