Gurgaon Hit-and-Run Claims Life of West Bengal Labourer
A tragic hit-and-run accident in Gurgaon has claimed the life of a 45-year-old labourer from West Bengal. The incident occurred late on Thursday night near a liquor shop in Sector 66.
Victim Identified as Reju Molla
The deceased has been identified as Reju Molla. He originally hailed from South Dinajpur district in West Bengal. Molla lived as a tenant in Ramgarh and worked in the city to earn a living.
Details of the Fatal Incident
According to the complaint filed by his nephew, the two men were returning home from work around 12:15 am. As they walked near the liquor shop in Sector 66, a vehicle struck Molla from behind with tremendous force.
The impact threw Molla onto the road surface. Witnesses and evidence suggest the vehicle did not stop immediately. Instead, it continued moving forward, dragging the victim for a considerable distance before the driver fled the scene.
A police officer involved in the investigation provided chilling details. "After the vehicle hit Molla, he was thrown onto the road, and the vehicle continued to move forward, dragging him for a considerable distance before the driver fled the spot," the officer stated.
Police Investigation Underway
Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was dragged for approximately 20 meters by the vehicle. "Injuries on the body and marks on the road indicate that the vehicle did not stop immediately after hitting the man," the officer explained.
Police authorities have confirmed they will establish the exact sequence of events after further forensic examination. They are also analyzing available CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle and driver.
Discovery and Medical Response
A passer-by noticed a man lying unconscious on the road and immediately alerted a night patrol team. Police officers quickly arranged for a private ambulance to transport the victim.
Molla was rushed to the government hospital in Sector 10. Despite medical efforts, doctors declared him dead during treatment. The body was subsequently shifted to the mortuary for a detailed autopsy.

The victim's nephew approached the police station later and submitted a written complaint. He sought legal action against the unknown driver responsible for his uncle's death.
