Gurgaon Police Implements Comprehensive Security Plan for Republic Day Celebrations
In preparation for Republic Day celebrations scheduled at five key locations across Gurgaon, the city police have announced a robust security framework involving the deployment of 3,000 personnel on Monday. The comprehensive strategy aims to ensure foolproof security, maintain smooth traffic movement, and uphold law and order throughout the festivities.
Multi-Venue Celebrations and Security Deployment
Republic Day programmes will be organised at five distinct venues across the city:
- Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Sector 38
- Nakhrola Stadium in Manesar
- New Grain Market, Haily Mandi, Pataudi
- Govt Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School, Sector 43, Sushant Lok
- Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Sohna
Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar revealed that to prevent any untoward incidents, authorities have established 11 permanent checkpoints and 41 additional special checkpoints across Gurgaon. While 55 personnel have been deployed at permanent checkpoints, another 277 personnel will man the additional nakas. Traffic police have also set up 41 checkpoints specifically to regulate vehicular movement and ensure smooth flow around celebration venues.
Integrated Security Apparatus and Drone Surveillance
The security deployment extends beyond local police stations, incorporating personnel from the crime branch, intelligence wing, PCR units, and riders across the district. Three contingents of the city police will also participate in Republic Day parades at different venues.
Security arrangements at celebration venues include:
- Three-layer checking systems for thorough screening
- Videography and photography through advanced drone technology
- Close monitoring of all entry and exit points
An anti-drone team has been specifically deployed to monitor and act against illegally flying drones or balloons during the celebrations. Drone-based surveillance has already been conducted at the Sohna Republic Day venue as part of advanced security checks, demonstrating the police's proactive approach.
Traffic Management and Public Cooperation
Traffic police may implement route diversions wherever necessary to ensure smooth traffic flow around the venues. Police commissioner Vikas Arora appealed to residents to remain vigilant and immediately contact authorities through multiple channels if they notice any suspicious activity.
Residents are encouraged to:
- Call the emergency number '112'
- Contact the police control room
- Notify the nearest police station
Authorities have assured that the identity of informants will be kept confidential. "Citizens are urged to celebrate the national festival peacefully and cooperate with police to maintain law and order," added police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar, emphasizing the collaborative nature of the security effort.
The extensive security measures reflect Gurgaon police's commitment to creating a safe environment for Republic Day celebrations while minimizing disruption to daily life through careful traffic planning and public communication.
