Separate Canter Accident Injures Four Women on Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway
In an unrelated but equally distressing event, four women sustained injuries after a speeding canter truck rammed into a stationary auto-rickshaw on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway near Star Mall in Sector 31. This accident occurred around 9:50 PM on Wednesday night, adding to the city's recent spate of traffic mishaps.
The auto-rickshaw, driven by Sunil from Narsinghpur village, had halted due to a punctured tyre while traveling from Leisure Valley Park towards Sadar Bazar. At the time, five women were on board, all of whom worked at a stall at Saras Mela in Leisure Valley Park and were en route to a hotel in Sadar Bazar.
Sunil parked the vehicle on the roadside, switched on the parking lights, and placed a reflector behind it while arranging for alternative transport. Despite these precautions, a canter allegedly hit the auto from the rear at high speed. Four women, who were standing in front of the auto, suffered injuries and were rushed to the Sector 10 government hospital for treatment.
- One passenger sustained a leg fracture.
- The other three women received minor injuries.
The driver of the canter fled the scene immediately after the crash. In response, an FIR has been registered at the Sector 40 police station under Sections 281, 125(A), and 324(4) of the BNS, as police work to apprehend the fleeing driver and determine the exact cause of the accident.
These back-to-back incidents highlight ongoing concerns about road safety and traffic management in Gurgaon, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of regulations to prevent such tragedies in the future.
