A tragic incident unfolded in Gurgaon on Wednesday morning, where a 29-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide in her rented accommodation in Sector 7 Extension. The victim, identified as Shivangi, originally hailed from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
Details of the Gurgaon Suicide Case
According to the police, Shivangi was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside her home. She was employed with a private company located in Udyog Vihar Phase IV and was working from home at the time of the incident. No suicide note was recovered from the spot, complicating the initial investigation.
Family Alleges Abetment, Cites Financial Demand
The case took a serious turn when Shivangi's family lodged a formal complaint at the New Colony police station. They have accused her husband, Harshit Jindal, of abetment to suicide. Harshit, a native of Hisar, runs a stationery shop in Sector 45.
In their complaint, the family made a startling allegation. Shivangi's mother claimed that Harshit had demanded Rs 10 lakh from her daughter. He allegedly claimed that the expenditure during their wedding was insufficient, thereby pressuring her for the money.
Events Leading to the Tragedy
Police provided a sequence of events based on preliminary statements. The couple, who had entered into a love marriage last year, were living together. On the fateful night, they reportedly consumed alcohol together before retiring to separate rooms.
Shivangi locked her room from the inside. When Harshit went to her room later, he received no response despite repeated knocking. He subsequently broke open the door and discovered her hanging. The police are investigating all angles, including the allegations of financial pressure and abetment made by the deceased woman's family.
The Gurgaon police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate death. The allegations have added a layer of complexity to what initially appeared to be a personal tragedy, turning it into a potential case of abetment under the Indian Penal Code.
